Azerbaijan, officially the Republic of Azerbaijan is a country in the South Caucasus region of Eurasia at the crossroads of Eastern Europe and Western Asia. Azerbaijiani architecture has heavy influences from Persian architecture. Many ancient architectural treasures such as the Maiden Tower and Palace of the Shirvanshahs in the Walled City of Baku survive in modern Azerbaijan. The government of Azerbaijan has set the development of Azerbaijan as an elite tourist destination as a top priority. Shahdag Mountain Resort is the country’s largest winter resort.
